Cinema Solubile’s season is about to start again.

Cinema Solubile is a game with 11 participants: 11 short films of maximum 6'22", 11 frames, to be made in 23 hours according (or in opposition) to the 1914 Futurist cinema manifesto. The films will be shown to an audience and then destroyed by the maker himself on stage.
Cinema Solubile to solve and dissolve the riddle of NEXTcinema!

(see for informations et memorabilia refer to www.cinemasolubile.net)

NEXT EVENTS

** 24-25 August : Castello di Pissignano, Campello sul Clitunno (province of Spoleto, ITALY)

Campello Sul Clitunno is a small, ancient town, 10 km out of Spoleto and 53Km from Perugia, in central Italy. The Castle that since 1100 dominates the valley has a rare pentagonal tower. The zone is knowk for Olive Oil, food, arts and craftsmanship but holds a good amount of subterranean energies ready to explode.
The event is going to be organized in collaboration with OFFUCINA (www.offucina.com) and the Campello Administration.

** 13-14 September: Solubile@WORM Rotterdam

WORM is a cultural center and media rich event organizer in Rotterdam. I saw a great place with a very good energy when i visited. A cinema, a stage for concerts, a bar, a media shop plus places for workshops, for 16mm film and sound design… All designed to be sustainable/reusable and powered with free software…
** 27-28 October: Roma Solubile

With an invitation by Kollatino Underground (http://www.kollatinounderground.org).
KU is the place to be if you want to meet the roman alternative-experimental theater scene.
The CS will be embedded into the activities that Kollatino is organizing for the “Festa del Cinema” (http://www.romacinemafest.org
), the big CINEMA festival of Rome at it’s second edition. Apparently to emend itself for being too mainstream in the lounch edition, Roma film fest wants to go “solubile”. Occasion to show new cinema to the big old guy's fans in town.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
*** makers are invited to participate by the cinema solubile himself. If you like to be part get to us and impress us with your personality... we especially welcome delators: say to us who, according to your judgement we should invite to participate and why!
*** to see you must show up in the venue, there is no way you can enjoy a solubile without being to the show in person...
*** we also (usually) welcome any kind of actor performer musician ready to play with us or be part of the show in "immediatist" ways or offering his body/soul/mind/spirit to makers

write to freddbomba@gmail.com or refer to our website!

I posted this entry in "nouvelle vague" and got no response whatsoever. So I'm trying it out here: I have the feeling that these people's work should be better known (and probably will be):

Has anyone heard of the Straub-Huillet couple?

It's pretty austere stuff: don't even consider watching one of their films if you haven't slept enough the night before. But when you can summon up the energy to focus it can really work. Especially, if you like hearing actors reciting verses from Holderlin or lines from Pavese or Cézanne while you"re staring at 5mn long virtually still shots of the most amazing scenery, long enough for you to actually start realizing what your eyes are doing when they're looking at something still and what your brain is doing with the stuff you're hearing when there's nothing else you can do. Very uncompromising!

Sadly, Danielle Huillet died of cancer a few weeks ago and this was mostly unnoticed, which is odd because quite a few people (Godard, Deleuze) regard this demanding work as really "important stuff."

i think their "Chronicles of Anna Magdalena Bach" exist in DVD format in the USA. (haven't seen that one yet: it's on this week in Paris) "

I feel like adding that ultimately their work is deeply political. It is difficult to figure out in what sense in some of the films (Cézanne, Empedocles) but some of them are very clearly marxist orientated.

I think what impresses me and stimulates me the most is their degree of ideological and aesthetic independance.

And then we'll award selected entries with things like cash, shirts, syrup, and other crazy prize stuffs.

And luckily this festival is free to submit to. No more pesky registration fees when all you have to do is have access to the Internet and be able to press an upload button. But perhaps the best part of registering for Zannel Fest, in addition to prizes, is that you’ll also be (if you want!) one of the very first users of an almost launched content sharing network that encompasses mobile phones, the Internet, and possibly a device that hasn't been invented yet, like the PK-109 Video Helmet.

I have been an animator and filmmaker myself since my early twenties (mostly student productions), so I'm not a novice, but not an "experienced professional" either.

I'd like to help out on low budget production by creating the sound score. I can compose comfortably in the styles of: classical, electronica, alternative rock, jazz, bossa nova, flamenco, mexican "oom pa", spy thriller, tv themes (IE. Green Acres specialist), german nihilism, Amazon fire dance, Leprechaun break dance .. I guess I better quit while I'm ahead.

Hi Y'all

I just completed a short film using the text from 'Days of War, Nights of Love' Chapter 'L is for Love' - 'Join the Resistance, Fall in Love'

I am pretty happy with the results and hope you are too. You can find a copy of the film here.http://submediatv.com/
It's a pretty hefty download (116mb - yikes) but I am trying different compressions to make it smaller and retain most of the quality.
You will need quicktime 6 to see it -http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Soon I will have a DVD translated into several languages and I plan to place the entire DVD file on my site for people to to download and burn at will. I plan to make a few hundred copies to help pay for my next film based on a different chapter from 'Days...' I am undecided as to which one yet.

I also plan to screen the film in as many places as possible, maybe y'all can recommend a few willing screening rooms across the world.

Anywho, feel free to contact me with feedback etc.

cheers

Hello everyone,
I'm from Buenos Aires (Argentina); I've recently made a 10' minutes short film based on a book by an English writer.

A friend of mine from England has done the music and he is also a book publisher. He had the idea of making a DVD edition of the movie there in England in order to sell it. But, of course, since he previously only published books, he doens't know much about DVDs publishing.

The idea is to press from 100 to 200 DVDs... but what I wanted to ask you is if you can recommend me places in which they press DVDs in the U.K. in a pro fashion and with a good price (i.e, cheap).

Here's some technical info that may help:

- We want to make a Beta tape to DVD transfer (OR a DVD to DVD transfer).

-We do not want to press DVD-R, but *real* DVDs.

-The movie is 10 minutes long.

-We want the DVDs to be "All zones" playable.

If anyone knows places in the U.K. in which they do this stuff in a pro fashion and without making you pay a fortune, please tell me about them.

Blessings,
Kzwleh

into the direct actions that shut down the
financial district of San Francisco on the day
after the United States invaded Iraq. With audio
backdrop including the live radio broadcasts from
the Independent Media Center to SFPD's tactical
communications that were picked up on police
scanners, the documentary reveals a diverse show
of resistance from the streets of San Francisco as
well as providing a critique of the corporate
media coverage of the war and exploring such
issues as the Military Industrial Complex, attack
on civil liberties, and the United States' current
